22. Farm

A farm... somewhere. It doesn't seem to be related to either of the houses in the previous pair of pictures.

This 'panoramic' shot seems to have strained the capabilities of the camera. The farm doesn't "move", so you'd think everything would be in sharp focus. Not so. Maybe that's the reason you don't see many early "faraway" photographs.

That is the Ludwig farm on north end road in Center Township in Berks County. In recent years it has been an auto salvage yard.

Wow! I didn't have any hope of anyone recognizing this farm. Did you ever visit it?

I have to ask - which Ludwigs lived at this farm? Was (my) Grandpa born here?

Yes, if Joe is right (and he lives nearby and has seen the farm) then that is where Grandpa and Aunt Sallie and their brother were born and raised. I tried to drive there one time, but the road in was so rutted I was afraid I'd ruin the bottom of my car, and I turned back. It has since been paved, but I haven't tried to drive in. It is a road that doesn't go anywhere except to another road.
