My guess is an old covered bridge got washed away in a flood, or burned. And a newer modern bridge somewhere replaced it. But I don't recognize the spot at all. They used stone instead of concrete - wow.

yeah, the water tower is the only recognizable thing in the background, and that's not much to go on.
he did like to take photos of things burnt down. he had a whole page of pics of a factory that was demolished that i'll post sometime soon. it's another set of "good luck on trying to identify this" photos.
Interestingly, there is a covered bridge in one of Grandpa's old pics that I recently posted. It was behind the three men posing on the Schuykill River. I wonder now if this is the remains of that bridge.
