Misc. 1930's (c)

Okay, I'm guessing that the man in the previous picture has now taken his bucket down to Maiden Creek to do....ummm....what?

It looks like they are trying to build a dam to create some deeper water - for swimming or fishing. They are moving rocks into a line. There was never deep enough water for swimming up at our place, but down at Rahmer's there was. But I don't think it was any man-made shaping of the river, just that it was naturally deeper there. So that's where we swam.

Yeah, the Maiden Creek was always shallow, despite Tom almost drowning in it once. The spot my Mom used to take Sheri and me to learn to swim couldn't have been more than a foot or two deep. Later on, I remember the water in the creek (at the end of our street), as being deeper, but I doubt it was more than 6 feet deep, even in the middle.
