Halloween - 1960

I'm assuming this is at the King Frost Parade. The kid behind the chipmunks has a number on his sleeve (102), and that looks like a majorette on the left fringe of the photo. Kudos to anyone who can name the un-costumed boy just behind the "We Want Alvin" sign.

I've seen this photo, or one like it before. The order is reversed; Joe is on the left, then Tim, then Mick. (I was taller than Joe even though a year and a half younger). We were in a halloween parade before the revival of the King Frost Carnival. Mom (Janet)made the costumes and the signs stating 'We Want Alvin' and Alvin for President'. We were fans of the Chipmunks show and Joe wore the Simon name and I wore Theodore. Tim, of course, was Alvin. mick............

oh wow! so the King Frost Parade did not have a continuous existence from the 1910's thru the present?! there's got to be an interesting story about its revival. we'll have to commission your Mom to do the research on this, and write it up.

I remember that parade. One of our service clubs in Hamburg organized it, just for kids and maybe the high school band. The boys got a first prize for this gig.
I've written the history of King Frost so often, yet they ask me to do yet another one each October for the paper. Hard to come up with anything fresh, but oh well, they are willing to pay me for it, so I do it. The parade lapsed a few times, the longest of which was between around 1940 and 1964. The BEST parades were in the 1920s and 1960s.
